After adding Mark Baptiste to the band lineup we thought it high time to update our band photography. Once again we turned to talented photographer Mitchell Joyce for the task. We compared notes on wardrobe: jeans (check), black shirt (check). Mitchell selected a location: Coeymans Hollow, NY. The scheduled date arrived, the forecast was clear, and we were good to go!
Lo and behold, as departure time arrived, part of the sky started looking somewhat less than “clear.” We were coming from 4 different locations, and each of us experienced a range of emotions during our drives.
“The forecast was clear, why is it raining?… grrr.”
“I think this storm will pass north of Coeymans Hollow. It’s probably good weather down there.”
“Oh dear, only 8 miles to go and I am in the middle of a torrential downpour. The sky ahead looks quite dark. AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!”
We pulled into Mitchell’s driveway just as the rain eased up! Mitchell was packed and ready for the short drive to the shoot location, so we scooted over there and set up very quickly. We ended up having a 40-minute window of no rain. The natural lighting was atmospheric, and we got some good shots. We got lucky!
